Summer Knitting Charity Challenge
I do not know what I will make yet..I want it to be something useful for a charity maybe something for a premmie?? I will post the details below cause I have no idea how to link to this anywhere. I am slowly getting there. I am of the techno generation aren't I??
Not very good at advertising but it is worth a try the more who enter the more the charity receives!
Summer Knitting Charity Challenge
My LYS decided to host a Summer Knitting Charity Challenge this year. The challenge is to create something useful using the yarn included in your kit that will then be donated to charity.
The item that displays the most style and originality as judged by the owner, will win for its creator a $50 voucher to be spent at the shop (not redeemable for cash.)
The winner of the Challenge will be announced on the 3rd of March. The items will be displayed in the window before being donated to charity. The charity will be determined based upon what items are received and where they will be the most useful.
Recycled Crayons
What to do when your toddler has a temperature, your baby has been teething, you have not had much sleep and you need presents for playgroup friends the next day? (assuming we can go - she seems fine now!)
Of course. Make recycled crayons! I think they turned out ok. We had fun ripping off the paper and breaking them - well I did, DD only wanted to pick out the colours to go in the muffin tray. Not sure if this is what is supposed to happen or if I cooked them too long? Will try again when I have some more crayon ends..
Oh yeah and the muffin tray was a grey silicone one that now has some red tinges in some of the holes! Thinking it has become a craft tray now.
For anyone interested we now have 1 tooth. YAY although I did try to convince her dentures would be easier...

presents
Here I am again to show some turtles I knitted for another swap. The pattern was from a great blog called knitted toy box. Will try some of the others soon maybe. Though i love the turtles and may just do more of them.

These are some clothes I made for a friend of a friend.
And the t-shirt and ball are for a mum at my playgroup who just had her second child.

Knitting
Alright, am also on Ravelry and have already posted these pics there but unfortunately Flickr has some sort of problem with these 3 pics so has killed my account. What do you think it could be? Doll too risky??
The cardi type top was knitted with wool my aunt dyed so hope she is looking. Am currently kntting myself something with what is left over.
Children's clothes swaps
Ok so a quick update. Here are some packs I have sent of for children's clothing swaps. 2 were for my partners and 2 for my mum's - toddler clothing and baby clothing. Was only required to send out 1 item but I went overboard. In response to these 4 swaps sent out we have only received 1 in return. A cute denim pinafore for DD1. Flakers ugh. The worst part is that 2 of the flakers are people we sent to, so the lady who go the overalls and the lady with the jeans, dinosaur and purple hat have sent out nothing. :( Why do people do this?
Will go sort some more photos to post up....
I'm back
I AM BACK!!
Alright here I am deteremined to regularly update this thing. My poor stalkee friends cannot see anything I do but I can see all of theirs on their blog. I admit I am more of a lurker - watching and reading about others rather than sharing about me. Anyway since last post I have had another child. (Yep it has been that long.) Another little girl born in May '08. I have also got right into swapping! I'm addicted and the postage is costing me a fortune. I love making things but there are only so many things 2 little girls can have and unfortunately my sis buys things as well for her little boy so limited in how much he needs too. So here I am, back to share some stuff with anyone who cares to read.

reconstructed clothing

Well admittedly if I kept up to date this would not be happening.
Anyway, these legwarmers have been made using a pair of knee high socks. I got this idea from a blog that I cannot find the address for now.
This dress was made from a pillowcase I got from an op shop. The material has a sheen to it even though it is a cotton. It fits my daughter baggily at the moment which means I can put a jumper on under it and she can still wear it during winter. The instructions for this were from sew mama sew!

knitting

This wrap top was knitted by me with a handyed yarn. The pattern was from a Creative knitting magazine. This wrap has a moss stitch edge which has led me to the discovery that I do not get moss stitch. I had to undo it so many times! I have since found other wrap top patterns that have no moss stitch I might try that next time.

This dress was knitted using a pattern and wool I got from http://www.biggandesign.com I have adjusted the bottom though because it was supposed to have moss stitch around the base and due to my dislike (see above) I have used a frill that I got from a Debbie Bliss pattern. I think it looks good though.

Big Sister Outfit
Well after looking through a few of my EB sewing friends blogs I saw a Big brother/ Big sister outfit on one of them - Andrea's??
And I was inspired to make an outfit for a friend from Playgroup's daughter.
I made a stencil using freezer paper and then used fabric paint on it.
On the back I have created a little graphic of a big sister with her little sister.
Welcome back Sewjo!!!

I'm Back
After a long gap between posts I am back! Now that I have hopefully figured out how to reduce these photos (pregnancy brain is a killer!) I aim to post weekly in order to return to the blog ring.
Below is an outfit I made for a mother's group friend's little boy. The colours are terrible in this photo but as I have already given the mother the outfit I cannot take a better shot.

Here is an outfit I made for my daughter for summer. I got half a metre of the floral at Spotlight for a couple of dollars. So cute and the price is right!

Above is a quilt designed by my mother and me for her cousin. My mother did all the sewing I just dyed the fabrics used for the squares with the butterflies. But I will take some credit! Hopefully my aunt's can see this now.
Hope to photo some more things soon to update again.
